Editor’s Letter
High Wind Warning Totoro and Drawing Sword Kokushibo make a clear moment out of a restrained set of parts. Blood Manipulation Choso takes a more expansive route through the direction of the effects.

Totoro’s umbrella explains the movement across the group, while the sword draw concentrates attention around the hands. The larger creature scenes ask for another kind of viewing space, with the surrounding effects and body outline kept clear from neighbouring pieces. We like this range because it allows an environmental mood without making every figure equally busy. A small seasonal accent can reinforce that mood through a few leaves or a single prop. A quiet portrait can provide a pause. We would choose the moment that the collection is missing, then use the supporting scenery to make it readable. That approach gives the more elaborate pieces a clear reason to occupy their space, while allowing the simpler figures to remain deliberate choices rather than leftovers between larger displays.
Why Now
01
BLEACH’s final-cour premiere
VIZ announced The Calamity’s July 25 premiere in its July 1 press release. The issue therefore meets a specific screen date for its BLEACH portraits, whose contrasting finishes remain separate display choices.
02
Resident Evil enters a live setting
Universal’s July 7 article announced a Resident Evil takeover at Horror Unleashed. It gives the Resident Evil portrait a recent franchise reference without turning the figure into a claim about event merchandise.
03
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Yokohama programme
The official July 23 notice added details to the anime’s fifth-anniversary Yokohama collaboration. This is franchise-level context for Choso; the red effects and attack direction remain the basis of the recommendation.
Chapter 01
Sweeping forms: Zinogre, Remielle & Rukia
A wide creature outline, wings and flowing effects all extend beyond the central figure. Their shared requirement is enough clear space for the outer shapes to remain visible.
Monster Hunter Zinogre, Stygian Zinogre and Thunderlord Zinogre
The Zinogre product offers Zinogre, Stygian Zinogre and Thunderlord Zinogre versions. The creature’s raised body and branching effects create a large upper silhouette above the environmental base. The setting is part of the attraction, with the creature appearing rooted in its surroundings rather than balanced on an abstract platform.
All three versions are listed at 58 cm high with lightning effects and 47 cm without them. The first version is 53 cm wide and 40 cm deep; the other two are 50 by 35 cm. We would choose the creature treatment first, then plan around the complete effects configuration.
Best for: a large creature environment with a clear upper outline

Concentrated action: Kokushibo, Choso & Vegeta
A sword draw, an attack line and a braced stance can each carry a display. The supporting effects are most useful when they reinforce that specific gesture.
Drawing Sword Kokushibo
Drawing Sword Kokushibo keeps the action close to the body. The katana and scabbard cross the waist, while purple effects and a white sweep introduce movement around the draw. The wood-floor-style base provides a restrained setting beneath the figure.
The listed height is 32 cm, with a length of 18 cm and depth of 21 cm. We prefer this when the exact gesture matters more than an extended environment. It creates a useful contrast with Choso’s broader attack effects nearby: one composition holds the movement close, while the other carries it outward through the surrounding space.
Best for: a contained sword gesture beside larger action scenes

Everyday moments: Totoro, Sasaki & Charmander
A familiar prop or a seasonal ground detail can establish a complete moment. These quieter subjects offer a change of pace after the more expansive effects scenes.
High Wind Warning Totoro
High Wind Warning Totoro links the main figure, the blue Totoro and the white Totoro through an upturned umbrella and a bus-stop setting. The small leaf detail and tilted props make the weather readable without a large surrounding landscape. A black walnut base gives the group a defined lower boundary.
The scene is listed at 22 cm long, 11 cm wide and 21.5 cm high. We like it as a compact narrative group rather than simply another individual creature portrait. The internal support between the smaller figures is specified as stainless steel; the visible appeal remains the shared windblown gesture.
Best for: a compact scene built around one readable everyday event

Totoro makes the moment clear.
High Wind Warning Totoro is our preference for a scene that tells its story through a few connected gestures. Drawing Sword Kokushibo provides a similarly focused choice for an action collection, with the draw kept close to the figure.
The Zinogre variants deserve consideration when the creature and surrounding effects can occupy a larger uninterrupted area. We would choose between these display roles before deciding how much scenery to add. A restrained moment and an expansive environment can complement each other because they ask for different kinds of attention.
Choose the moment first; let the setting make it readable.

Continue with Resident Evil.
The Resident Evil portrait illustrates how a costume can carry a display with relatively little scenery. Compare that approach with environment-led character pieces elsewhere in the category.
