First-time buyer guide

First-Time Buyer’s Guide to GK & Resin Statue Pre-Orders

Buying a GK statue, resin statue, licensed statue, or collectible figure is different from buying a regular in-stock retail product.

Many Collector Figures listings are pre-order items. This means the product may still be in the studio announcement, reservation, production, balance payment, warehouse arrival, or shipping preparation stage.

This guide explains what these products are, how pre-orders work, how deposits and 5-month payment plans work, why shipping is quoted later, and what happens after you place an order.

01

What Is a GK or Resin Statue?

GK originally means Garage Kit. In collector use, it often refers to small-batch, highly detailed statues or kits made by independent studios or specialist makers.

Many GK-style statues are made with resin, PU, polystone, or mixed materials because these materials can hold sharp sculpting detail, complex poses, and larger display forms.

Not every product on Collector Figures is a GK statue. Collector Figures may list different product types, including GK statues, resin statues, licensed statues, collectible figures, and smaller display figures.

Always read the individual product page for the specific product type, studio or brand name, scale, material, product status, and payment option.

FeatureWhat It Means
MaterialOften resin, PU, polystone, or mixed materials depending on the product.
DetailDesigned for sculpt detail, paint finish, display presence, and character expression.
ProductionOften smaller production runs, depending on the studio and product.
Buying PathMany products are sold by pre-order before final fulfillment.
02

Resin Statue vs Regular Figure

A resin statue is usually built for display impact, sculpt detail, and larger shelf presence. A regular figure is often smaller, lighter, and closer to standard retail inventory.

Both can be collectible. The right choice depends on your space, budget, character preference, and how much waiting time you can accept.

MaterialResin, PU, polystone, or mixed materials.PVC, ABS, or other plastic materials.
Display StyleLarger base, stronger scene design, more shelf presence.Smaller footprint, easier to display.
ProductionOften smaller batch, varies by studio.Usually broader retail production.
PaymentOften pre-order, deposit, balance, or payment plan.Often full payment at purchase.
ShippingUsually larger and heavier, shipping quoted carefully.Usually simpler shipping.
03

Understanding Scale & Size

Scale helps you estimate how large a statue will feel in real display space. A 1/4 scale statue is usually much larger than a 1/6 or 1/8 scale figure, and the base can add significant width and depth.

Before ordering, check height, width, depth, box size if available, and the space where you plan to display the piece.

ScaleCommon Use
1/1 Life SizeDedicated display rooms or large collections.
1/4 ScaleLarge statement pieces.
1/6 ScalePopular balance of size and display impact.
1/8 ScaleEasier for smaller shelves and first-time collectors.
04

Why Are Many Statues Sold as Pre-Orders?

Many GK and resin statue releases are not produced like normal retail inventory. A studio may announce a product first, collect reservation demand through agent channels or sellers, then plan production based on confirmed orders.

A pre-order lets a collector reserve a product before the final fulfillment stage. It does not mean the item is already sitting in a local warehouse, and it does not mean the final delivery date is fixed.

This is why pre-orders are common in the resin statue market.

Product Status Explained

Product status tells you where a product is in its buying or release cycle. Always check the current status before ordering.

Coming Soon

Early product information is available, but full ordering details may not be open yet.

Watch for updates. Do not treat it as open for purchase unless the page clearly allows ordering.

Pre-Order

The product is open for reservation.

This is not ready-to-ship inventory. Production and release timing may change.

Pre-Order Close

The normal reservation window has closed.

Regular pre-ordering is no longer available. Availability may depend on later stock or cancelled orders.

Released

The product has reached a release or production-completion stage from the studio side.

Released does not automatically mean Collector Figures has in-stock inventory.

In-Stock

The product is currently available through Collector Figures or a relevant stock source.

Shipping cost and handling still depend on package size, destination, and available methods.

06

Deposit, Final Payment, and 5-Month Payment Plan

Collector Figures product pages may offer different payment options depending on the listing. Always check the product page before ordering.

Full PaymentProduct price paid at checkout

Some products may allow full product payment at checkout. This covers the product price only unless the product page clearly says otherwise. International shipping is normally quoted later after warehouse arrival or shipping preparation.

DepositReserve now, balance later

A deposit lets you reserve a pre-order slot without paying the full product price at the beginning. The remaining product balance is paid later when Collector Figures sends a balance notice.

5-Month PlanSpread product cost over time

Some products may support a 5-month payment plan. It includes a 5% handling fee, so the total product payment becomes 105% of the product price. Shipping is still quoted separately later.

Payment OptionWhen You PayImportant Note
Full PaymentProduct price paid at checkout.Shipping is normally quoted later.
DepositDeposit now, balance later.Balance is requested when Collector Figures receives the relevant notice.
5-Month PlanInitial payment plus 5 monthly payments.Includes 5% handling fee; shipping quoted later.

A deposit should not be treated as a casual hold, because Collector Figures commits the reservation through the relevant order channel after your order is placed. For detailed terms, read Payment Plans and the Pre-Order Policy.

Shipping & Delivery

Product prices on Collector Figures do not normally include international shipping.

For many resin statues, final shipping cost cannot be set accurately at the time of pre-order because the product may not have final packaging yet. Large statues can ship in oversized boxes, multiple cartons, reinforced packaging, or packaging that differs from early estimates.

Collector Figures quotes shipping later based on actual package size, actual or volumetric weight, destination, available shipping methods, and carrier route conditions at the time of shipment.

These photos show typical warehouse handling, carton protection, and shipping preparation steps. Final shipping cost is quoted after warehouse arrival because package size, weight, destination, and available shipping methods must be confirmed first.

ExpressFaster route for buyers who prefer speed

Availability depends on destination, package size, and current carrier route conditions.

Air LineBalanced option depending on destination

Duty handling and route availability are confirmed in the shipping quote.

Sea + ExpressOften used for larger packages

Common when timing is less urgent and package size makes other options less practical.

Destination RouteDepends on country and carrier options

Sea, truck, land, or destination-specific options depend on route, customs handling, and current restrictions.

08
Tracking

Collector Figures arranges shipment and sends tracking information after dispatch.

During the waiting period, there may be long gaps without major updates. This is common for statue pre-orders because production, painting, packaging, and studio scheduling can take time.

09

Do Not Buy Pre-Orders for Fixed-Date Gifts

A pre-order is not suitable for a birthday, holiday, anniversary, or event where the arrival date must be fixed.

Estimate

Estimated release information is usually a studio-side projection, not a delivery date.

Even after a product is released, time may still be needed for balance payment, warehouse arrival, packing, shipping method selection, customs, and final delivery.

Better fit

If you need a product for a specific date, an In-Stock product is usually a better starting point.

Even then, confirm availability and shipping timing before ordering.

10
Collector Figures is not the studio.

Collector Figures is a store, agent, and process coordinator for overseas collectors. Collector Figures is not the studio that designs or manufactures the product.

Why it mattersCoordinator, not manufacturer

Collector Figures can help organize the buying process and communicate updates, but Collector Figures does not control studio production speed, final production outcome, or every schedule change.

11

What to Expect With Resin Statue Production

Resin statues and similar collectibles are often more complex than standard mass-produced figures. They may involve hand painting, large parts, fragile details, heavy packaging, and small-batch production.

Before ordering, understand that estimated release windows can change, final product details may differ from early images or prototypes, minor paint or fit differences can occur, and larger statues may have higher shipping costs because of box size and weight.

If a problem happens, Collector Figures reviews the case and helps coordinate the next step according to store policy, available evidence, and the specific situation.

12

In-Stock Products Are Different From Pre-Orders

An In-Stock product is already available through Collector Figures or a relevant stock source, so it usually has a shorter buying path than a pre-order.

For In-Stock items, the usual flow is: check the product page, confirm availability if needed, place the order, confirm shipping information, choose a shipping method, pay shipping if needed, and wait for tracking after dispatch.

In-Stock does not mean every item ships instantly. Handling time, stock location, package size, and shipping method still matter.
