Editor’s Letter
Kamen Rider Kuuga and Requiem Leon Scott Kennedy make the setting part of the action without losing the figure. The simplest standing figure offers a more direct character-led alternative.
Read the full letterClose letter
Kuuga benefits from a literal frame: the broken glass marks the space the character is crossing. Leon uses rubble and organic forms to establish the direction of his rifle stance. Goku needs less context because the pose and familiar colour contrast already carry the image. The distinction matters when several action pieces share a shelf. A strong boundary can keep one composition from spilling visually into the next, while a simpler figure can provide a pause between dense environments. The smaller object and travel scenes add useful variety to this selection, but we would not make them compete with every effect surrounding the larger figures. Our preference is to choose the action you want to see first, then let the base support that decision.
Chapter 01
Broken frames: Kuuga, Makima & Cartethyia
Frames, seats and display stands can define a subject without a large landscape. The boundary around each figure matters as much as the pose inside it.
Kamen Rider Kuuga
Kamen Rider Kuuga crosses a gold frame filled with sculpted glass fragments. One knee rises while the arms spread, creating a forward gesture that remains legible against the rectangular surround. The black base anchors the frame rather than becoming a separate landscape.
We favour this approach for an action shelf that needs a strong outline. The red armour and gold trim repeat the framing colours, keeping the parts visually connected. The listed height is 49.5 cm at 1/4 scale, so the frame should be treated as part of the full display height rather than incidental packaging around the figure.
Best for: an action display with a distinct architectural outline

Energy studies: Son Goku, Firefly & Giyu
A figure can remain central even when the effects grow around it. The useful comparison is how far the supporting forms change the silhouette and viewing space.
Son Goku
Son Goku’s Kaioken composition wraps the clenched-fist stance in crimson and pink energy. The ribbons circle the figure while the rear effect builds height behind him. That arrangement makes the energy feel like a surrounding volume instead of a small accessory held in one hand.
We would give the Deluxe scene space on both sides so those curves remain separate from neighbouring figures. The more direct Super Saiyan portrait nearby is a useful alternative when the character should dominate without a large surround. The listing describes the rear effect as semi-transparent in mass production; the promotional image is not a guarantee of its final finish.
Best for: an effects-led Goku scene with room around the outer ribbons

Directed action: Leon, Urbosa & Arale
A rifle, a raised hand or a shared vehicle gives the viewer a direction to follow. The environment is strongest when it reinforces that line instead of competing with it.
Requiem Leon Scott Kennedy
Requiem Leon Scott Kennedy braces a rifle across a broken urban setting. Rubble, a discarded tyre and organic tendrils create a rough lower frame, while the raised weapon gives the figure a clear direction. The flame elements add a warm contrast to the dark clothing and ruins.
This is our preference when the environment should explain the action. Leon’s stance remains readable even though the base carries considerable detail. We would leave a clear sight line in front of the rifle and judge the whole footprint from the selected version, rather than arranging the piece around the height of the figure alone.

Kuuga makes the clearest boundary.
Kamen Rider Kuuga is our lead pick for a collection that already contains several complex scenes. The gold frame gives this composition its own edge, and the forward gesture remains easy to follow inside it. Requiem Leon Scott Kennedy is the stronger choice when a setting should tell more of the story.
The Legendary Super Saiyan Son Goku offers a cleaner pause between those scenes. Its simpler presentation can be a deliberate choice, rather than a compromise made after comparing larger effects. We would keep the most open composition next to the most densely framed one so that both remain distinct.
A clear outline makes an action scene easier to live with.
