Editor’s Letter

Super Baby and Metal Garurumon show how strongly a familiar body shape can define a display. The casual and winter Saiyan portraits offer a quieter contrast through clothing and setting.

Read the full letterClose letter

We prefer the casual Vegeta as the starting point because the jacket and small planted base make a coherent scene without an elaborate attack effect. The winter figures pursue the same idea through matching outerwear and frozen ground. Super Baby takes the opposite route, using an extended hand and a concentrated energy orb to direct attention away from the clothing. The creature selections introduce another useful distinction: a recognisable mechanical body can carry a display on its own, while a group of very different silhouettes invites comparison. These are separate display decisions, and we would give each enough space to remain legible. A quiet costume study loses its advantage if surrounded by effects that compete with every edge of the figure.

Chapter 01

Everyday portraits: Vegeta, Bulla & Killua

Ordinary clothing makes posture easier to read. The casual and winter designs share a character-led approach, while Killua’s fence introduces a more specific setting.

Casual Wear Ver. Vol. 02 Vegeta

Casual Wear Ver. Vol. 02 Vegeta

Casual Wear Ver. Vol. 02 Vegeta trades a battle scene for a jacket, trousers and a small outdoor base. Grass, a palm tree and low foliage give the figure a place to stand without surrounding it. The two magnetic heads provide base-form and Super Saiyan presentations.

We prefer this as a quieter Dragon Ball portrait. The base supports the change in costume instead of recreating a major fight, and the alternate head changes the expression of the display without requiring another scene. The listed total height is approximately 33 cm, including the base.

Chapter 02

Charged silhouettes: Super Baby, Exodia & Asuka

Energy, weapons and summoned forms create the outlines here. Each composition asks for attention beyond the central character, making the surrounding space part of the choice.

Super Baby

Super Baby

Super Baby holds an energy sphere away from his torso, giving the figure a clear directional gesture. The rocky base and purple-blue effect establish the scene without placing a second character behind him. Gold armour and the dark lower costume remain readable against the brighter surroundings.

We would choose this when the attack pose matters more than a complex narrative setting. The 1/6 and 1/4 options repeat the same basic idea at different sizes; the larger option should be considered as a separate space commitment. The listing makes its production quantity conditional on order volume.

Chapter 03

Layered worlds: Metal Garurumon, Herta & Wallace

Creature designs and prop-filled scenes reward different viewing distances. The mechanical lead offers a clean silhouette; the surrounding selections make smaller objects and secondary figures part of their appeal.

Metal Garurumon

Metal Garurumon

Metal Garurumon places its mechanical body in a four-legged battle stance. Two head sculpts offer a forward-facing expression or a snarling open jaw, so the change in mood stays close to the character rather than adding more scenery. The angular armour reads differently from the softer clothing elsewhere in this issue.

The listed dimensions are 17.7 by 15.5 by 17.6 cm. That makes the body and head choice the main display decisions. The product description notes that hand-finishing can bring minor surface variation; our recommendation concerns the composition shown, rather than a claim about final production finish.

Final Take

Start with the quieter costume.

Casual Wear Ver. Vol. 02 Vegeta is our preference for a character shelf that already contains action poses. Its jacket and planted base change the register without abandoning the familiar silhouette. Super Baby suits a separate space where the attack gesture can remain the main event.

Metal Garurumon is the more compact counterpoint. Its mechanical proportions and alternate heads give it a different job from the larger scene pieces. We would choose between these roles before comparing the number of accessories, because more scenery does not automatically make a stronger companion display.

Vegeta for costume, Super Baby for action, Metal Garurumon for a mechanical accent.
