CHARACTER ORIGIN
D is the protagonist of Hideyuki Kikuchi's long-running dark science-fantasy novel series Vampire Hunter D, brought to wider Western audiences through the 1985 animated film and the acclaimed 2000 OVA Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. A dhampir of extraordinary power — born of a human mother and the vampire lord known as the Sacred Ancestor — D walks the post-apocalyptic far future as a solitary hunter, his beauty and lethality existing in equal, unsettling measure.
