CHARACTER ORIGIN
Son Goku — also known by his Saiyan birth name Kakarot — is the central hero of Akira Toriyama's landmark manga and anime series Dragon Ball, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984. As a child, Goku is a pure-hearted, fearlessly curious martial artist raised in the wilderness, whose journey begins the moment he befriends Bulma and sets off across the world in search of the seven Dragon Balls.
