Kurimanju is one of the endearing side characters in Nagano's Chiikawa (literally "something small and cute"), a manga and anime series following tiny creatures navigating a world that swings between heartwarming slice-of-life moments and unexpectedly tough challenges. The chestnut-shaped critter is beloved for its gentle demeanor and its memorable fondness for sake — a running gag that gave rise to the iconic sake license card.
