This diorama draws from Toriyama's Journey to the West tribute artwork, where the four core characters are recast as the pilgrimage party from the classic Chinese novel: Goku as Sun Wukong the Monkey King, Krillin as the monk Sanzang, Piccolo as the river demon Sha Wujing, and young Gohan as the pig spirit Zhu Bajie. That visual concept carries particular weight because Dragon Ball's entire DNA traces back to Sun Wukong — placing Goku in the role is a full-circle acknowledgment of the series' literary origin. KaLin Studio leans into the literary framing by wrapping the cylindrical plinth in relief-carved chapter-title panels from the novel itself, grounding the figures in a narrative context that extends well beyond costume play.
