Chi is the central figure of Chobits, CLAMP’s manga and anime series set in a near-future Tokyo where humanoid computers called Persocoms are part of everyday life. Found discarded in a pile of trash by the earnest Hideki Motosuwa, Chi is revealed to be a Chobit — a legendary Persocom capable of genuine emotion and independent thought. This piece evokes the ethereal, almost dreamlike quality Chi radiates in her awakening moments, her impossibly long hair billowing around her like a cocoon of light, capturing the tender vulnerability that made her an icon of early-2000s anime.
