ABOUT
This piece captures Chihiro standing at the pig pen fence in her bathhouse work uniform, flanked by two full-scale pig sculpts, with a hand-painted relief diorama backdrop depicting the spirit town rising behind her. OPM Studio built this as the opening entry in a dedicated Spirited Away relief series, combining imported resin figure work, a sculpted architectural backdrop, and an LED-lit scene base into a single self-contained display at 15 cm tall. The format — figure plus environment plus illuminated base — is doing real work at this scale, and the layered depth of the backdrop keeps it interesting from multiple viewing angles.
CHARACTER ORIGIN
SCENE NOTESThe piece locks onto the mid-film pig pen visit — the moment Haku leads Chihiro to see her transformed parents sleeping behind the fence, oblivious to her presence and her pleas. It is one of the film's most quietly devastating beats: she is close enough to touch them, but they no longer recognize her. OPM Studio frames this through Chihiro's posture — still, slightly turned, watching rather than reaching — while the two pig sculpts occupy the foreground with unsettling physical weight. The relief backdrop pulls the spirit town architecture into the same frame, collapsing the distance between Chihiro's isolation and the world pressing in around her.
