Notes
Mahakala Studio’s 1/4-scale release portrays Joe Yabuki collapsed forward on a corner stool. The compressed seated silhouette replaces combat movement with stillness, while blood-stained wraps, blue trunks, lace-up boxing boots, and cut marks across the skin establish the aftermath of a punishing bout. A broad rectangular base keeps the composition low and stark.
The statue refers to the closing image of Ashita no Joe, presented here under the title The Death of Joe Yabuki and linked to his declaration that he has burned completely to white ash. His head hangs beneath the heavy sweep of black hair, his arms fall slack between his knees, and his expression is nearly hidden. These choices turn the boxing corner into a quiet image of total exhaustion and finality.
