    MINIWORK’s Gentleman of Crime brings the Tim Burton Batman Returns (1992) version of the Penguin to 1/12 scale as a fully articulated soft-goods figure — weathered white onesie, black faux-fur coat, black top hat, and the iconic black-and-white spiral umbrella all accounted for at approximately 11 cm tall. The head sculpt captures the pale, sunken-eyed grotesquerie of that specific portrayal, and the accessory count — rocket-equipped penguin companions, half-eaten fish, cigarette, and a poseable umbrella with working wire frame — makes this one of the most complete 1/12 treatments of this character to date. For collectors who grew up with that film, this is the version of the character that matters, and MINIWORK has clearly built the accessory suite to match.

    SCENE NOTES

    This is MINIWORK’s interpretation of the Penguin as he appears throughout Tim Burton’s Batman Returns — specifically the sewer-dwelling, fur-coat-draped version that made the 1992 film so unsettling: the egg-shaped silhouette in the weathered white onesie, the faux-fur coat hanging off rounded shoulders, and that black-and-white spiral umbrella doing double duty as cane and weapon. MINIWORK leans into the grotesque theatricality of the portrayal through the head sculpt’s pale complexion and dark eye detailing, while the two rocket-armed penguin companions and the half-eaten fish ground the figure firmly in the Arctic World Pavilion scenes that defined the character’s most memorable moments in the film. The poseable umbrella with its wire armature is the engineering detail that earns attention — at 1/12 scale, getting that spiral canopy to open and hold position cleanly is not a given.
