Notes
Entry 27 in TOR Studio’s Arale Series pairs Arale Norimaki with her creator, Akira Toriyama. Toriyama wears a black hood and a round silver gas mask, with a black haori over grey striped hakama. He is caught mid-stride on one foot while Arale rides on his back with her arms around his head. Above his mask, she grins with her mouth wide open under her winged ARALE cap and oversized glasses. The figure is made in WCF scale to match the rest of the series.
Akira Toriyama often drew himself in his manga and author's notes as a figure wearing a gas mask. The hooded silver mask on this piece follows that self-portrait. Putting that caricature next to Arale, the Dr. Slump lead he created, makes the piece a portrait of creator and character together.
